Mechanical and Hybrid Ventilation

The Italian market of controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV) in residential and service buildings is in the phase of establishing the stock more than replacing existing systems. Recent data are not yet consolidated but annual sales still appear relatively small in terms of units and volume although a considerable growth has been recorded over the past years (up to 32% over 5 years in the second half of 2010s, with a volume of a few tens million euros and a few thousands units per year). Of course, more recently (2020-21) the Covid-19 pandemic also affected this market making it difficult to assess the current trend. In addition, available estimates consider only ventilation machines (with no ducts and other equipment necessary for operation, no VAT and installation costs). It has also to be noted that the market is divided with almost equal share between centralized units and single ventilation units. About 80% of the units sold are equipped with a heat recovery device. Also, about 66% of the market consists of installations in new buildings or buildings renovation, and 87% of the units are installed in residential buildings (58% in single-family and 29% in multi-family).
