It is estimated that about 96% of Italian households have an oven and that it is used for 90 – 120 cooking cycles per year. In 2018 the total number of appliances in Italian households was estimated at 12,000,000 units, of which 11,148,000 in main homes (those defined by ISTAT Italian statistics as occupied by resident people) and 881,000 in secondary homes. Some 12.1 millions of electric ovens represent about 45% of the total of household ovens installed in Italy (27 millions). The remaining 55% mainly consists of gas ovens, which however often have an integrated electric resistance (grill).
Based on available data, it has been estimated that in 2020 about 1,400,000 ovens have been sold in Italy, with a replacement rate in main homes of 4%. The replacement rate of range cookers was 2.2%. Therefore, it is observed a market change, consisting of the replacement of freestanding ovens with built-in models for purposes of interior design rather than energy efficiency improvement targets. Market analyses show a significant increment of oven sales: from about 700,000 units in the years 2015 and 2016 to about 1,400,000 units in 2020
